Soil Moist™ Spikes are a safe, non-toxic water-storing polymer that can be used in several horticultural applications. They are ideal for indoor or outdoor potted plants and hanging baskets.
The spike absorbs water similar to a sponge. Each spike is clear in color, approximately 1.25" in length, and stores over 40 times in its weight in tap water - releasing a steady supply as your plants need it.
Just place the proper amount of spikes beneath the surface of the soil, as close to the roots as possible. Cover the holes, and water the plant on a normal basis for several days to fully activate the product.
Use this chart for proper number of spikes for your size container:
